American Adventure: Ich an der GoldenNetworking 2nd Professional Career Night

Ich war auf der Suche nach meinem Abendprogramm, und TV schauen fand ich doof. Eine Online Recherche brachte mich auf die "GoldenNetworking 2nd Professional Career Night", und ich entschied mich da hin zu gehen.

An der Bar traf ich auf Amadou, er hatte heute Geburtstag und stimmte sich schon mal darauf ein. Wir schnappten uns einen Snack, und dann ging es los - und immer noch tippte die Hälfte der Teilnehmer ohne Anteilnahme in ihre Handys?

Der Ratschlag lautete: Know your assets, and show them!

Common mistakes if you are looking for a job:

• There are tons of jobs out there posted on the web – apply only if you match all the criteria needed.
• Send no general resumes, tailor them to the specific job.
  
• What to tell at the job interview? Ask the one who made the referral for you.
• Don't know what you want? Do a reverse job description or check with a career coach.
• Prepare an elevator speech about yourself (NABC, look that up). Target what you want with your strengths.
• If you already have applied: Call the consultant in charge to stick out of the masses.
  

Ich blieb noch eine Weile dort, um Kontakte zu knüpfen - und verbuche den Abend als Erfolg.
